Between the 16th of April and the 27th of May 2018 the Council is consulting on a proposed extension to the Birch conservation area.

The Council's Planning Policy Service has recently undertaken a series of field studies to inform a review of the Birch Conservation Area. The aim of such a review is to consider the following:-

  • Are the current boundaries relevant and appropriate or may they require alteration?
  • What makes Birch Conservation Area special enough to warrant continued statutory designation as a conservation area? [The Appraisal] [positive contributors]
  • What local issues currently exist within the conservation area that could harm its special character [negative impacts]
  • What steps does the Council propose to preserve and enhance the character of Birch Conservation Area? [the Management Proposals and Townscape Actions]
